Marlow Remembers World War I
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Marlow Remembers is holding a series of events in 2015:
17 February 2015: Evening Event in the Assembly Rooms on ‘Memories of the War’, 7.30 p.m.
5 April 2015: Commemorative Service at the Grave of Leonard Roberts in Marlow Cemetery on the centenary of his death.
16 November 2015: Evening Event on Research into the Soldiers of Marlow.

The exhibition features photographs and stories linked to people from the MK area, as well as the opportunity to listen to personal accounts of the time, taken from the Living Archive Oral History Collection.

Wycombe in World War 1

Step in to the reconstructed trench and imagine what life was like for a Tommy soldier or nurse on the front in World War 1. Enter if you dare, to hear the sounds of artillery, spot the trench terrors such as rats and flies and learn what you would need to help you survive.
The exhibition is suitable for all ages and levels of knowledge and includes a range of artefacts, each telling the story of a local individual or family. Discover what World War 1 meant for the men, women and children of Wycombe District: where were the training trenches built? what was Wycombe’s role in aircraft production? And much more.
Hands-on activities and events for families and schools.

Burnham War Memorial
The Royal British Legion and Burnham Parish Council have received a grant of £10,450 from the Grants for War Memorials Scheme jointly funded by English Heritage and the Wolfson Foiundation. The grant covers 75% of the total cost, and it is hoped to raise the remaining sum from the local community and businesses. Work will begin in the spring of 2015.

Hedgerley in the Great War
A study of the 83 men who left Hedgerley to serve, the 10 men who died and the impact the Great War had on this South Bucks village. Period of study 1911-1921 by Hedgerley Historical Society.

Join Sally Scagell on a cemetery tour with a difference. With help from the boys of John Hampden Grammar School you will hear the stories of WW1 soldiers buried in High Wycombe Cemetery – their lives before and during the Great War and, in some cases, after the armistice. Find out how Wycombe residents helped with the war effort and the effects of war on the town.
Please wear suitable footwear for wet and uneven ground.
